Nevada is one of the few states where CNA certification falls under the same regulator that licenses RNs and LPNs - the Nevada State Board of Nursing (NSBN). The Nursing Assistant Certification program at NSBN approves every training site, processes every application through the Nevada Nurse Portal, and maintains the Nevada Nurse Aide Registry. Testing services are contracted to Credentia, which administers the NNAAP-style knowledge and skills exam at sites in Las Vegas, Reno, Carson City, and Elko.
Our directory lists 6 state-approved Certified Nurse Aide training programs in Las Vegas, NV. All programs must meet Nevada's minimum of 75 hours minimum and prepare graduates to sit for the Credentia competency exam.
Genevieve Training Center offers the shortest published program in Las Vegas at 6 weeks (120 hours). Nevada requires 75 hours minimum of state-approved training, so any accelerated program must compress the required hours into a shorter calendar window through full-time scheduling. Call (725) 202-2647 for current cohort start dates.
To work as a CNA in Las Vegas, you must meet a Nevada-approved training program of at least 75 hours minimum, pass the Credentia competency exam (Two-part NNAAP-style competency evaluation: a 70-question multiple-choice knowledge exam (oral version available) plus a 5-skill clinical skills evaluation, administered by Credentia), and clear a Fingerprint-based criminal history check through the Nevada Department of Public Safety and the FBI. Most candidates complete the full process in 6-12 weeks for training plus up to 4 months for fingerprint clearance before permanent certification is issued.
No Las Vegas program on our directory currently advertises free tuition, but many Nevada nursing facilities pay for CNA training in exchange for a work commitment after certification. Ask local long-term care employers about employer-sponsored training programs, and check the American Red Cross and Job Corps for additional pathways.
