How to Look Up Your CNA Certification
- Go to the Credentia Ohio portal or the Ohio Department of Health website.
- Select registry verification or login to your account.
- Enter your details (name, certificate number, or SSN) to search.
Renewal Requirements
Ohio requires at least 8 hours of paid nurse aide services in the preceding 24 months under the supervision of a registered nurse. You must also provide employer verification. Check the official resources below for the most current requirements and any additional continuing education needs.
Reciprocity
Out-of-state CNAs may apply for Ohio registry placement through reciprocity if they hold active, in-good-standing certification from another state. Applications are processed through the Ohio Department of Health or their designated credentialing vendor. Processing times and requirements may vary.
Testing and Training
Initial certification requires completion of a state-approved nurse aide training program (minimum 75 hours) and passing both written and skills competency evaluations. Testing schedules, fees, candidate handbooks, and approved training programs are available through the official links below.
Registry Status and Employment
Ohio CNAs must maintain active status on the registry to work in long-term care facilities. If your certification lapses, you may need to complete additional training or retesting depending on how long it has been inactive. Employers are required to verify CNA status before hiring.
