She interacts with her students and does not just say "here's the information." She creates a fun and exciting learning atmosphere inside the classroom and has the ability to get everyone to join in. If you have a wrong answer she does not criticize or degrade you, she simply explains the correct answer and follows up with you one on one to see if you understand. She is approachable even if you feel you are asking a silly question or a question you should know the answer to. When you begin drawing, even though you are new to it, she is willing to allow you to draw on her and she calmly walks you through each step. Compared to Madera College, it’s a lot bigger than the College in Madera. Some of the staff is rude, others are not. I love a lot of the proffesors that teach here, some just don’t care and aren’t helpful. The programs are great and they have many resources to help you succeed in the school. The parking is ridiculous, the staff have all the good parking spots. They should leave the good parking spots for students. It’s hard to find a parking spot! The campus is very clean, and I love the vibe I get, going into campus. In all, it’s been a great place to learn and to succeed in your dreams. I’ve had a good experience here, I know some have not. But, everyone has their own opinions, I’m just sharing mine. I went to Merced College before transferring to a university. (And came back after to finish science credits for graduate school) The fees are 10x less expensive than UC Merced and I found the course work to be even more challenging than the four year university level. Community colleges have a bad rap, but I received a great education here, thanks to many of the amazing professors! Some of the teachers are also adjunct professors from the UC. Most of the classes also have flexible times. The only challenge I had while attending is misinformation given by the school counselors regarding what classes to take to transfer.  I think Dr Leonard at least taught here. He is the best teacher ever on Youtube for calculus and probabilities. I just started a Industrial Engineering Masters and realized that I forgot everything from my en engineering undergrad - I had not been to school for over 10 years and after watching his videos, I know more than I did after completing my undergrad about those subjects. Thank you!!! I love this college because it is small So far this college has been pleasant to deal with. No problems with staff or professors. They keep the campus pretty clean. Staff parking should not be right by all the front doors. Those spots should be for students. Staff should have their own dedicated lot. And it seems there's an awful lot of spots for staff as it is. I started my collegiate education at Merced College; although, it was called Merced Community College at the time. I transferred from here to Fresno Pacific College, which now has a campus in Merced. I am glad I attended the Fresno campus because living on campus create livelong friendships.   The instructors that I have in a nursing program do not care about what you may be going through. They may say they care and are there to help you, but if you approach them confidentially with a personal issue they will announce it to the entire class and even use a demeaning word like “I received a WEIRD text” when you were really just trying to seek help or their understanding. Or if you tell them you are having such a serious matter of depression they respond with something like “keep your head up” and then they don’t even try to actually help you. That is how children and students end up committing suicide because even when they seek help from teachers they’re not taken seriously. So I suggest that if you are going through some serious depression or have any conflict in class with peers etc that you do NOT approach them and either contact a school counselor, a friend, family, anyone else. It’s really sad, especially when you thought you could trust your instructors or peers. Nothing is ever kept confidential in these classes now days. Disappointing.   I got a 6\nFest So far I like this school and am in my last semester. I've only encountered one bad professor in the 2 years I've attended but he's no longer there. All the crim professors I've had were really good, and so were all the psychology professors I've taken. Those classes I really enjoyed most. Also, the college offers a lot of services many don't know about or take advantage such as EOP&S book services, Care and Calworks for single parents, Veteran Services, Workstudy, and DSPS, plus many more that I haven't even listed. A lot of the staff their have gone out of there way many times for me, and to be honest this has been a better experience than I've had when I attend a semester elsewhere. Nice college and the campus is fairly clean.  The professors, for the most part, are good people and can all teach you something different.
