Louisiana CNA Certification Requirements

Steps to become a Certified Nursing Assistant in Louisiana

  1. 1 Be at least 16 years old (one of the youngest age requirements in the US)
  2. 2 Pass a criminal background check and drug screening
  3. 3 Complete a Louisiana-approved 80-hour CNA training program (40 classroom + 40 clinical hours)
  4. 4 Maintain a 70% or higher grade average throughout the training program
  5. 5 Pass both written/oral and clinical skills portions of the Louisiana CNA Competency Evaluation
  6. 6 Register with the Louisiana Nurse Aide Registry after passing the exam

Note: Louisiana has one of the lowest age requirements in the US (16 years old) and requires 80 total training hours. Military personnel with nursing assistant training may be eligible to skip CNA school with proper documentation.
