It was a nice rainy day Saturday so I went to the American Red Crosse and did my CPR certification class. The instructor was very good. Thanks again love that the class were not that big.   I had a very terrible experience with the Red Cross blood donation center in Onalaska.  I was scheduled to give convalescent plasma and accidentally went to the La Crosse location since I was unaware that there was a location in onalaska as well.  I tried calling to let them know I was on my way and running late but the number on google for onalaska  directed me to the national Red Cross line, which couldn’t connect me to them.  I showed up 10minutes late and was told that it was too late to donate. I work in healthcare and have a very busy schedule and had one day off to do this.  They said that they have a very strict policy about being on time and told me I would have to reschedule. I ate differently and drank way more fluids to prepare for it, and I even did the rapid pass questionnaire ahead of time to save time. They still would not take me after I was basically in tears begging at this point.  To top it off, there were 3 chairs open and no one else waiting.  I am so disappointed in the Red Cross which is apparently so desperate for blood donations and plasma right now.  I wouldn’t call turning people away desperation.  I will continue to donate my blood through Red Cross because the drives seem to know how to treat people.  However, I will be taking my plasma to Biolife and get compensated for it.  I had chosen not to do this early on and to give it as a generosity but I will not when I am treated as being so disposable.  Again, very angry and disappointed that the Red Cross employees treat donors in this way. A great place. Friendly staffs.
