- 1 Be at least 18 years old (some programs accept 16-17 with school approval)
- 2 Complete a state-approved 90-hour CNA training program through the NJ Department of Health
- 3 Pass criminal background check and fingerprinting
- 4 Complete required immunizations and health screening (TB test, Hepatitis B, MMR, etc.)
- 5 Pass both written/oral exam and clinical skills evaluation within the allowed timeframe
- 6 Get listed on the New Jersey Nurse Aide Registry after passing certification exam
